Nina Blackman is fresh out of high school and gearing up to start her life. Unfortunately, she must do this without her best friend Ivy by her side. Nina lost Ivy in a drunk driving accident on graduation night. Nothing has been the same since. Nina has to navigate her new found freedom without the person she cares for most. Nina Blackman was known as the good girl all of her life. On graduation night, she wanted that to change. She was ready to party like her peers always did. Nina convinced her friend Kyle to continue the party elsewhere, leading to her best friend Ivy's death.

After a torturous summer of depression and grief, Nina must face real life as her other friends start college and she is left at home, finding herself. Grief having already set in and now feeling numbness, she is finally going to make an attempt at bettering her life again.

Over the course of the year, Nina finds love, friendship and most importantly, realizes why things happen the way they do. No reason. There is no reason for the way life unfolds.

She must learn to live her life, knowing that there isn't a purpose or any higher meaning. Nina must learn to find peace in what happened and face the future.
