I have read all four books in the Promises To Keep series. I must say that this one was great and poor Amy finally had something good happen to her. I read the first in the series and could not put it down and HAD to have the other three books. Thank you Shayne Parkinson for helping me to miss going to the gym (smile). Keep up the good...no great writing, I will be reading more of yor works. I feel like I know these people and now I am sad to lose them.

The final book in the trilogy definitely holds up to the others. Closing the story arc, I almost felt as if everything ended so nicely for Amy that it was almost too perfect. However, Amy's 'message' to the readers has always been that perseverance and tolerance will see her through rightly. Amy's character revisits this theme again and again as she struggles through a difficult marriage. As a reader, I don't think I'd have had the heart to see her end off no better than when she started and so while the ending was a bit 'perfect', it was extremely, extremely satisfying.
I've commented on Parkinson's writing in previous reviews, so I won't revisit that here, but if you're reading about this author for the first time, know that he's worth checking out and has an excellent writing technique.

I have just finished reading "A Second Chance" and was surprised to discover the book had ended. Amy has lead quite a life and her little grand-son is just getting started. Surely there is more to come?
Amy is about the age of my maternal grand-mother and Ms Parkinson's books have been a great help to kind of get to know Grandmother Ewing. The Victorian age is so starkly different to the life of the average woman today. "A Second Chance" should be read by all woman of all ages to understand how fortunate we are these days. It will startle and astound the reader. Looking forward to further adventures of Amy, Sarah and Eddie.

I absolutely am in love with this series!!! I love the characters and how real the author makes them. I finished the whole quartet within a week and am now anxious to read on to the fifth, whenever it's completed. I am completely addicted to this story and I absolutely recommend it.
