Short description

Spoken with honesty, Duggan tells the story of several individuals from different backgrounds and class whose lives are intertwined by one decaying neighborhood. Divided into six sections, Duggan is connected through content and theme: through race, struggle for identity and place, beauty, spirituality, hatred, and drugs. Now each individual is left to fight for their lives before it is too late.

Extended description

Duggan is a forgotten neighborhood. It is a place where love once grew and life and family were once cherished. The people who lived there called it home. However, something came in and made the neighborhood change courses. Part of this change is caused by time, the rest by an unexpected phenomenon that psychologically damaged the people within. Now, it is a misplaced neighborhood. Spoken with honesty, Duggan tells the story of several individuals from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and class whose lives are intertwined by one decaying neighborhood. Divided into six sections, Duggan is a novel connected through thematic content rather plot, through race, a search and struggle for identity, through lost beauty, a struggle for place, through spirituality, family conflict, hatred, and drugs rather than order. Now each individual is left to fend for self, to fight and renegotiate their lives in an attempt to escape death or a deathlike state before it is too late.

some of the sections are extremely good; felt like i was a part of the story; only if hope was real seems like a movie; it's that good

very interesting novel; love the way it's set up; love the 1st section because i am into ghost stories; cool that the rest of the novel is reality but you can still see the spirit elements from the 1st section

There are some powerful stories in here and despite Mr. Flemings take, the book is better than okay if only for the fact it shows the oppressive nature of multiple exterior sources, all centered on an American racism that has never died

The book was okay. It wasn't this masterpiece that everyone is making it out to be. I'm not saying that it wasn't worth the buy, but come on.

i love the way this book is broken into parts instead of following the life of one character or a few, it follows the lives of an entire neighborhood; i can honestly say this is the best novel i've read
