Put very simply. Sacred Summer is a fantastic novel.
I love how strongly Trina has worked her own life experience into her story.
It is in essence the tale of a mothers love for her children and pride as they grow into persons of their own. It is the story of Hope for the future and a warning that life can turn out rather negative unless we as fellow human beings choose to work to be a positive force in this world.
I can sort of sense a large degree of similarity with the belief systems of native people, and a lot with my own beliefs as well. Yet the story does not require that you be a follower of any one particular belief system.
A great story that will make you sit and think. I am eagerly waiting for the sequel. I can not imagine how Trina will better her first book.
