My heart was beating hard with anxiety and fear and sudden euphoria at being close to him once more.
“No,” I breathed, answering his question belatedly. “I just, I… thank you.”
“Yeah.” He bumped against me as he settled on the bit of floor inside the tower that I wasn’t occupying. Even though I was small, it was a tight fit. This thing hadn’t been built to fit two adult people.
Flashlights danced in the darkness, not far away. I remained silent and watched them, fearing that any moment, a beam of light would be shining directly into my face.
Eventually, Tanner groped for me in the dark. His hand collided with my face and with the side of my head before he found my shoulder.
“Since we’re gonna wait for a while,” he said, quietly, but still sounding casual, “you might as well make yourself useful.”
I knew him well enough to catch the slight but meaningful undertone. It told me exactly what he meant. I flushed and shivered with joyful anticipation. Somehow, Tanner managed to push his wet shorts down his legs and then maneuver me in between them. I stretched out one hand and touched his chest. Under the guise of having to feel my way around, I ran my fingertips across his hard abs, enjoying every moment of it. His skin was cool and damp, and I was determined to warm him up to the best of my ability.
“Fuck, yes,” he breathed as soon as I wrapped one hand around his shaft. Then I heard him sucking in a breath and holding it, just as we heard the voices of police officers. They sounded like they were close. I hesitated, but Tanner buried his fingers in my hair and tugged insistently.
