Although I'm not usually a fan of the fantasy genre, this book pulled me in, strongly, from the first sentence! I figured I'd stop reading once my interest trailed off, but it never did. Lauren does a fantastic job managing the reader's interest as well as building and releasing tension. But apart from the technical details of writing, which she handles intelligently, the story itself is nuanced and compelling.
An enjoyably captivating read! :-)
