This book is one of my absolute favourites!
I have been reading Danae's books for years now and The Damned of Lost Creek: Mask of the Damned is one of her best works I think.
It combines so many genres into one epic story, developing not just the primary character, but each individual as well. The style is so easy to read and just the right amount of sarcasm/cynicism for my taste :D
Just buy he book and thank yourself afterwards, because you wont regret it!

As an avid reader of Danae Ayusso for years, this book is by far one of my absolute favorites. Training Bra(Mikhail) and Man-Whore(Draven) will have you in hystarics within moments of them meeting and the fun continues as the book progresses.
From the mean streets of North Philly comes a street-smart young woman whose has had to endure more heartache than a 17-year old should. With a new dad, cousins and a pot-head granny, one can only assume that she is in for the ride of her life. Add to it a sarcastic man-whore with a chip on his shoulder and his family, you are introduced to "Damned of Lost Creek" fairly quickly. Mikhail is a heroine in the making in this book and only with her can the people around her start to heal, including herself. You will laugh, cry and be angry through every moment.
Every time I read this book I literally laugh out loud. Danae's way with words is by far her greatest strength. She will have you crying one minute, laughing the next and before you know if you are hooked.
Danae is a literary genius. With her fan-proclaimed "literary crack" you will be addicted before you even realize that you are.
So grab yourself a comfy seat and get ready to be sucked into what I have known for years as "The World of Danae." You won't be disappointed.
Happy Reading from a member of The Corrupted!

The first time I read ‘Mask of the Damned’ I instantly fell in love with the characters and the world of the Damned, and this March when it was republished I fell even more in love with story, especially with the new edits. Although not plentiful, they made the biggest difference to the characters and the plot for the future books in the series.
At the beginning of the novel we see Mikhail, a tough seventeen-year old raised in the streets of North Philly, move to Anaconda, Montana to live with the father she was told never wanted her after witnessing the brutal murder of her mother. Only hours after arriving, she gets trapped in the woods that seem to move on their own where she meets Draven Van Zul – who she calls ‘a boy band reject’ – who turns out to be the son of her father’s most loathed enemy, and also one of the Damned.
But what are the Damned exactly?
The ‘Damned of Lost Creek’ – the name they call themselves – are two family’s; the Van Zul’s and the Simoeau’s, that were cursed by a witch hundreds of years ago, which after arriving in Anaconda, Mikhail, as the daughter of Price Simoeau, learns that she also is also one the Damned.
As the novel progresses we see Mikhail battle with Philly Mikhail – an alter ego created to survive the tough streets of North Philly – as she learns to accept having a loving family and friends and everything that it entails, for the first time in her life.
Not everything is as it seems though as something evil in the woods is making children and young adults sick. Only the Damned can save them, and for the first time ever, the Van Zul’s and the Simoeau’s have to band together to save everyone.
But will they?
Find out in ‘The Damned of Lost Creek; Mask of the Damned’ the first in the series, a stellar five-star book I would recommend to all paranormal book fans.
I can’t wait for book two.
WARNING: Don’t read at night, this story will have you turning the pages until the very end.
- Taylor, a very, very ‘Corrupted’ fan.
