The storyline...

This book sucks you in and keeps you guessing. (Yes, that is a vampire reference.)

This story contains truly original lines, dialogue, scenarios, and characters. And even though it's mostly a YA paranormal novel, it also has romance, a little sci-fi, and even a touch of fantasy.

The characters...

The characters really came to life and felt like real life people. I was cheering for them, crying for them, yelling at them - just so many emotions. If you're not bawling your eyes out in chapter 16, then you are a far stronger person than I am.

You have the main character Callie who at times was just like your average teenager, other times smart and mature beyond her years, & other times I just wanted to slap her (sorry Callie!).

Then there's also Callie's circle of friends and her bff Zilla. I really liked her friends and everyone should have a bff like Zilla. She's one of those friends that you know will always be there for you, but at the same time also calls you out on your BS.

Oh & of course there are the hot guys to choose from. Team Cole! I like them dark and spooky.

The bad...

As with most debut novels there's some organization/structure issues, a few grammar errors, and at times the dialogue was a little choppy.

Even though it has some issues, there was nothing so bad that it took away from the story.

The first few chapters of this book had me wanting to turn the pages faster, i really wanted to know what was happening to Cassie.

The relationship between Cassie and Luke was weird!! (I cant really word it any other way). Draven was what you call a 'unforgiven', he was good looking, sweet and protective but ...... Aahhhh you will have to read the book ;-) Cole was the opposite of Draven, Cole was very bad boyish, he had secrets (lots!!) i really cant decide which one i would choose hehe ;-) ok Draven would win hands down :-). Zilla (Cassie's bff) was great, so funny and the way they both shared all their 'secrets' with each other was like a bond that goes further than just being best friends.

The 'special powers' that these people had made a very interesting read and unlike anything ive read before, i really enjoyed the ups and downs of this book. There are alot of things that need answers but I'm hoping they will be revealed in the next book.....maybe?!?

Overall i really liked this book and the characters (some of them!), the author wrote the book in a way that i was really drawn into the story :-)

I love this book. A little slow to start, but once it picked up, it never slowed down. I would recommend this book to everyone.
