About Patricia Iles

I believe in the power of the storyteller: from the famous filmmaker to your grandmother's stories about her youth, I think a passion for stories are hard-wired into our minds.

Films give us stories that are shown to us in vibrant detail. Books let us create that colorful image in our own minds. I love both and always have.

Let me take you on a journey in your imagination. You'll meet some new people and get a look into their lives. You will like some of those people, and you may hate some others. You may find yourself reaching for a tissue while you read, and you might even laugh out loud a few times.

I write for fun. I blog for fun. I cook for fun. And I clean because I have to.

Kudos, kudos! Loved this book. Hixson and Sarah were brought to life alond with all the supporting characters. I agree with the other reviewers, this book should be picked up for a movie. So realistic, so moving, and so screaming for a sequel. I'm suggesting this one to anybody who just loves a good read; even more so if you enjoy history, romance, and a well written work.

Two thumbs up! I couldn't put my nook down. I don't usually like to read books where the setting is during the Civil War, but this book was awesome! Read the book in two days because I enjoyed it so much. The details given during the story made it easy to imagine everything. Would like to read a part two and see what happens with the children. Maybe part 2 coming soon? Great job!

Definately a winner!

Action, romance, comedy, and a down to earth look at the reality of family bonds. This book has all the makings of a movie.

I stand amazed! This book has exceeded my expectations. I loved how easy the characters were to get to know, and the story line was realistic and believable.

I was happy to read about the small details, like the descriptions of garden work, or the easy touches making the scene come to life.

It is very apparent that real life experience of the author shines through on every page. So refreshing and a nice touch.
I was apprehensive to get to the romantic parts, as I blush easy, but they were taste full and well written.

This whole book was a breath of fresh air, and I look forward to reading more from this author.

I don't normally read romance novels or much fiction at all. I found this short novel to be entertaining. I enjoy stories with a supernatural twist. A nice break from my normal nonfiction reading. Thanks for the story.

This review has been a long time coming! I just could not think of the words to accurately describe this book and even now I'm sure the words will fail me still.

I am an avid reader and this book has all the elements needed to make it a must read. As you turn pages you will be reminded of life's tough lessons while laughing, crying, and falling in love with the characters of this book.

The author does an amazing job at making the story come alive with her style of writing - I'd like to tell you about it but I suggest you buy the book and find out firsthand.

I really enjoyed the book. I'd like to see a sequel of this book. The characters we're interesting and enjoyed being taken back in history. We sure are spoiled when you think that a little over 100 years ago animals were our transportation. I'd recommend this one.
