Extended description

Is it murder or an accident? When Martin's wife dies in a tragic accident on his farm he is accused of murder, then exonerated. He was not there, and no booby trap would have worked. His mother asks her old friend Dodie Fanshaw for help when the rumours inexplicably start up again. There are other tensions in the Pennine village, and accusations of financial irregularity with the village fete accounts against newcomer Ian Hanson, especially from Miss White. Catherine, newly home to live with her brother and his wife at the village pub after being widowed, becomes involved with both Ian and Martin.
