Hi I'm a high school student applying to college next year and I cam across this book through a twitter promotion. At first I was a little skeptical about the helpfulness of this book and if it would contain any "new" information worth my time, but as i read the first chapter I found a lot of practical, to the point and useful information on every part of the college admission process. Some of the best features of the book are:

1. The quotes for admission officers of ivy leagues on all sections of the application
2. Some of the insider tips were cool and i'd be sure to use them
3. The links to the SAT, ACT and AP resources where you can find free practice tests
4. Price is pretty cheap so i dont regret buying this - definitely got more than $1 worth of information haha

One thing I feel missing from this book is the depth it goes into for test prep. It doesnt have details of structure of exam and how to take it, but i guess there are many books specially for each test so its fine.

Inside the Admission Process offers suggestions and guidance based on real knowledge about the the current college admission process.
I particularly liked that the authors have included helpful quotes and advice from dozens of deans, admission officers, and college counselors who do this work every day. That perspective really made a difference.
Every step of this guide is absolutely right on and so well-organized. Apart from all the general information provided in the book, the 'AA Insider' tips are amazing- some really interesting advice which I had never read anywhere else before!
One of the best parts of the book is the essay guidance. The application essay is obviously very important and the tips given in the book are very good. I plan to go to the same people, Admission Ace, for my essay editing when i'm done with my essay.

Overall the book is probably the best book of its kind that I've seen. It offers clear explanations, easy-to-follow steps and thorough advice about what we need to know from the first stage of the admission process right up to the very end, and beyond that too.
I have followed the advice given in the book at every step of my admission process so far, and plan to continue to do so till the end, when i will hopefully 'ace' my admissions!
Great book! Extremely good value for money (only a dollar!!), compared to other books which are ridiculously expensive and not nearly as good as this one. 5 stars definitely, more if I could have given.

Finally. A resource book about college admissions for students and parents that is current, comprehensive, and accurate.
I began my admission process last month and had been quite stressed out about it, until I found this brilliant book online.

Pros:
1. Very student-friendly, as it is written by an alumnus of University of Chicago and the authors have first-hand experience of this stuff
2. Covers everything about the admission process
3. Helped me in selecting the best colleges in the U.S. for me, based on a lot of factors like size and fees
4. Complete information about financial aid- I didn't know there were so many kinds of grants, loans and scholarships that will help me so much to pay for college
5. Info about early action and decision very helpful
6. Full application process explained very nicely, including the forms, essays and letters of recomendation
7. The parts about 'interviews' and 'life on campus' are very good and the advice is very helpful. The authors cover every single detail, right from the packing checklist, list of documents to take, selecting courses and a major, and even info about food, transport and shopping.
8. My mom and dad found the section about 'parent's guide' very useful

Cons (only 1!):
1. The info is only about American colleges. Hopefully they will write another book soon about UK and other universities too.
