About Val Morgan

Since 1996 Val Morgan has been teaching and lecturing at Essex University and has published various articles for academic journals.
For relaxation she loves to walk the lanes and fields of the Essex/Suffolk border, near where she lives. The idea for this story was born on one such walk, at Mount Bures in Essex, at the motte and bailey earthwork which rises beside the village church; a landscape deeply attached to the earthiness of history: buried ancestors, roots, foundations, vestiges, remains, and all those things mysteriously known by loss and longing.
