This story centers around Natalie, a girl with the ambition to be a great scientist in Kromberg Laboratories, hoping the internship she was granted for the summer will be her foot in the door so to speak. Throughout the story there's repeated mentioning of Vitamins and Supplements that Natalie has been guinea pigging for the company which have toned up her body amazingly and made her work out sessions less straining on her.
Strange things start to happen when she runs into an old friend from high school named Ryan. The two have an unusual affect on each other for seemingly no reason (Not once does Natalie even consider the pills she's been taking to be the cause). The story would be a great read for anyone who enjoys young adult romance. However, those of the more paranormal/Science Fiction nature, will find this book lacking in the paranormal department until about charpter 6 or 7. Keep in mind this book only has 8 chapters total.
If I had written this, I would have waited for Element part 2 to be completed and then simply merged the two novellas into one novel to give the reader a better experience with the story as a whole.
I still look forward to reading Element Part 2 since it picks up where this one leaves off and I already know since the paranormal elements come into play at the end of this one that they will be there in force in the second one.
New Readers, I urge you not to stop reading this series simply because this part didn't live up to your standards, pick up a copy of Part 2 and see how the story plays out, you may get surprised.
I give this book 3 of 5 paws

Captivating, exciting, addicting, inspiring, fun.... I'm a comic book and Sci-Fi nerd who was asked to be a beta reader for this author and to give a male point of view. As I read the first chapter... I was immediately drawn in with the first couple of pages. At first, I wasn't sure what I got myself into with all the flirtation and teasing of romance between the characters. However, as I read more and more... I easily begin to like the characters. I become somewhat emotionally invested in Natalie Vega. I started to empathize with her "trials and tribulations" and got suckered into wanting to read more. CM Doporto does a great job of character building and setting up the plot. Part 1 is a little heavy on the romance side as CM sets up events for Part 2. However, this part has enough Sci-Fi/Urban Fantasy to keep you interested. I can easily fantasize how Natalie will become the strong, intelligent, confident, and sexy heroine that she is destined to be.

This book starts out slowly, introducing you to the characters and the world they live in. I don't remember there being a specific date in question, but whilst reading you get the impression it's a little way in the future with the world suffering heavily at the hands of Global Warming.

Natalie, our heroine, is a likeable character. Her friend Lise, not so much, she grated on me and I sometimes wondered why someone as nice as Natalie would be friends with someone like Lise. Her budding relationship with Ryan is both sweet and fiery. Their chemistry is amazing, and I have a sneaky suspicion that may be related to the vitamins and supplements Natalie is testing for Kronberg laboratories, though I have no proof so don't hold me to it.

This is a really enjoyable story and I honestly cant wait until the 2nd part is released.

From the beginning, I was hooked. The plot is great. I wanna be Element...

Natalie Vega is a college student who tests some experimental drug. She becomes Element. I'm not going to give any spoilers, I hate when that happens. Just know that this is a great read. I can't wait for part 2!!!

This book was just O.K. Not great, but ok.

The first 3/4 of the book or so read very much like a Spanish Soap Opera, which I don't particularly care for. The reactions each character had were very dramatic and emotional, and not very realistic (especially the main character, Natalie). Each scene gave a clear picture of overly dramatic people, and picturing it as anything but a Soap was very difficult...

The writing was not realistic at all- the dialog was somewhat cheesy and irritating, and had a lot of phrases that don't make much sense. For example, Ryan is supposed to be a Southern Texas cowboy, yet many of his lines read like a surfer guy from SoCal...then he'd have a random line like "this condo is kickin'" ...what??

It seemed very disjointed and confused- like the characters aren't completely defined, and very unsettled.

It also somewhat seemed like a book written by a dictionary...every phrase was something you'd expect to hear from a proper English professor...not college Freshmen (even if some of them were nerds...). It just wasn't very believable or realistic, and got to be somewhat monotonous in tone.

The reason I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 2, is because once the plot got going (past the monumentally frustrating main chunk of the book with a lot of redundant personal challenges and internal turmoil from the main character) towards the end of the book, it actually got interesting. I hate when books leave on a cliff-hanger, but it did leave me wanting to read the next book, now that there's more of a story than "Oh my, I'm so afraid to trust anyone, but gosh darn it, you're sexy, and I just want to bang you so bad, who cares?!" *fake Southern accent there*.

I'm hoping the next book will be better, and since I am still considering reading the series, I'm leaving it a 3 star instead of 2...

I'd recommend it if, 1) you don't mind cheesy Soap Opera plots and dialog to trudge through til the last few chapters, and, 2) the next book in the series/the series all-together, sounds interesting to you.

Can't wait for Part Two!!! Element Part one was an amazing story it had romance, suspense, wit and humor.

The book starts off introducing us to Natalie Vega. She is a smart, funny, and lovely girl who recently has gone through a tough time in her life. She offers to be a test patient for several vitamins and supplements created by Kronberg Laboratories, a large pharmaceutical company where she interns at. Her best-friend Lise also is interning there so they really excited to start working. Then enters Ryan Garrett who was her former high school crush and who seems to have a great interest in Natalie. But something is wrong with Natalie, she starts having dizzy spells when she's around Ryan but she shrugs them off as nothing. But soon her body starts going through physical changes that goes beyond the normal, it’s unreal and unheard of. She question's what she is to do: Tell Ryan the truth, or keep the secret she so desperately wants to tell him.

I really loved Element Part 1 and can't what to see what Part 2 has to offer. It was a story with and amazing plot, something unique, different, and new! I highly recommend this book, CM Doporto is a remarkable author and I can't wait to see her work in the future.
