June migrated from England to Australia in 1954, married an Australian and had two sons. After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and journalism she worked in the specialised field of corporate communications.
In the mid seventies she joined the International Information Bureau of the ICRC in Geneva as foreign correspondent.
