I found this eighties-set thriller to be a compelling read, fast-paced and intriguing. It tells of a single mother - cool, successful career woman Karen Standish – whose
baby is stolen. The twists and turns of the plot, the gradual revealing of Karen’s softer side and the presence of a tough but warm-hearted detective, make this a
book to be treasured.

This is a perfect beach read thriller. If, like me, you prefer an easy read where the story keeps you turning the pages I'd recommend this book. I know that this is a cliché, but I found it hard to put down. I actually finished it the day I bought it. The story centres around Karen Standish who's baby is kidnapped, and on the same night a woman is murdered in the flat upstairs. The dialogue between the police officers adds some humour, but the hook for me throughout, was when and how the baby reappears. This is a very enjoyable novel. I shall certainly download more of this author's work.
