About Shelby Vick

Born in 1928 and have been writing since I was seven. Sold five short stories at 19, sold four paperback action books around 1960, and have pubbed many of my own stories on my emagazine, Planetary Stories, which is over five years old. Just pubbed issue 20. Blind in one eye. Pretty good health otherwise. Widower. Spend about ten hours a day on my computer, seven days a week.

I loved it!

What a cute teen story.

Even though I am an adult, I can’t wait to see what happens to the Dark Pack next.

Where they will go and what they will see and learn and how they will change, grow and adapt. I love that Lupe, a female, is the pack leader.

The creative way that they came to be. That was very different and very neat. Nice twists.

A story of vaulting imagination and high concept. A coming-of-age story like no other you've read. Unforgetable. Joseph Green

Shelby Vick, author of Out Of The Dark, has really created a cross-genre story here, and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. Out Of The Dark is a tale of a world that has virtually destroyed itself, of people struggling to start over, especially a father and son. If that isn't enough, toss in a new type of humanity that is also struggling to survive, werewolf children, or "wereteens," as the tale calls them. Can any of them survive? Well, if you read Out Of The Dark, you'll find out, just as I did. I will say this--there is a lot in here, so whether you like action and suspense, or something more thought provoking, you'll find both here. Read Out Of The Dark by author Shelby Vick. You'll enjoy it.

Out Of The Dark, by Shelby Vick is a marvelous story. In a world ravaged by nuclear war, wereteens come on the scene. With the help of a father and son, they struggle to survive those who would see them dead. Out of the Dark is a different sort of tale, because it works on several levels. First, there is the straight action, fast-paced story I so enjoyed, but there is also an underlying theme of both a father and son coping with a tragic loss, coming to terms with each other, which gives Out Of The Dark a sensitive, personal touch. Combine these, and you have a heck of a story. I'd enjoy seeing a sequel to this one, because I'd like to see more adventures of the wereteens.

Now here is a story with a real difference. Author Shelby Vick was masterful in melding science fiction and fantasy with this story. Add a fast pace, characters you really care about, and the intriguing aspect of seeing it from a child's point of view, and you have a winner with Out Of The Dark. Whether werewolves, post-apocalyptic, or heartfelt is your thing--Out Of The Dark has them all. This story well deserves a full five stars!

I loved Shelby Vick's new book Out of the Dark! It is so well written and carefully laid out that the reader is pulled in slowly and before you know it the hook is set and you will find it impossible to put the book aside. The story moves along at a good pace and when it ends you find yourself wishing it had not ended.

With OUT OF THE DARK, Shelby Vick has pushed his creative talents to the brink -- and brought his readers to the edge of their seats! The fast paced plot and captivating characters, entwined with a unique revelation concerning the rules of lycanthropy, make this story stand out.

In short, Out of the Dark is a terrific story; worthy of the highest praise... a 'must read' for fantasy lovers!

"Extraordinary" is the word for this story. Out of the Dark is a clincher from the beginning when Shelby Vick skillfully hooks your attention and keeps it continuously! He draws a great word picture as the story zooms along, gets your interest in the characters, then pulls the most unusual explanation of werewolves I have ever run across.

I'd like to see what happens to those wereteens as they go out into a strange new world.
