Extended description

Blue Haired Alien Girlfriend is a stand alone short story.
Joshua is a manager at FishBurgers who walks home alone every evening. One night, he comes across an unusual young woman by the name of Mariella sitting on a bench. He's thrown for a loop when she tells him where she's from, but he doesn't mind. He doesn't mind the fact that she has blue hair either, in fact it makes her all that much more interesting.
The people around Joshua feel that he's a bit odd and know very little about him. Each comes to their own snap judgements about him.
Sometimes love can be a little quirky, sometimes it can be a lot quirky.

This is a short story.

I was rooting for them and although I wanted more of their romance, the outcome left me satisfied. I am, though, very curious about Mariella and wondering if meeting Joshua changed her even more. Great little story about living in the moment.

the second Carroll I've read. again, same feeling, I will echo some of Hickory Cole's comments, certain sentences, lines should be pared down, but more skillful than most of the stuff on Smashwords. capture of a certain kind of sentiment the best point; some weak spots (a phrase here, a word choice there) do not otherwise mar a solid 4****

There were parts of Carroll's writing style I really enjoyed and parts I found to be a little too cheesy even though most of those instances he called out himself. I wasn't as sold on the story itself as much as all the other reviewers but I would definitely read more from this author.

This story was well written and captured the moment when a person finally sees the girl of his dreams. It shows the depth to which a person can sink before finding the true love of their life.
I was engrossed in the story the minute I picked it up, it draws you in and gives you a sense of the lostness of people today. I am amazed that John is not a well known and fantastically rich writer by now.

I found the writing to be a 5, really good and just propels you from one sentence to the next. The story itself was a 3 or 4. Nice work and worth a read.

The only stipulation I have about this story is that it's too short!

The minute I started reading I was pulled in. Joshua reminds me of myself and one of my biggest fantasies: meeting a woman from another world and having her all to myself.

The way you introduced her, I immediately wanted her as much as J did. But then, in a flash, about as quick as she was introduced, she was gone. I felt that I missed her as much as Josh did.

Please make this story longer, or continue it. If you have, I'm going to go look through your catalogue right now.

I loved this story and it hurt to end it so abruptly.

A great little read. By the third paragraph their remains no doubt the author was serious when they said the story was "Quirky."

John H. Carroll makes mundane everyday life pop with excitement, and convinces the reader at life can be good, even if you make fish burgers for a living.

Loved the way the story introduces new characters at every turn until they all converge in a swirl to the main plot. Kind of like a half-hour sitcom, or "The Twilight Zone."
