About Kari Ann Ramadorai

Kari Ann Ramadorai lives in the Pacific Northwest after many years in the Sanoran desert. She soon found the green grass and overcast skies to her liking and will probably never spend more than a vacation anywhere else. You can find Kari where the geekery is. She's a voracious media consumer while living as green as possible.

Lyrical, intriguing and beautiful

This beautiful short story is about a group trekking behind their leader, Old Soldier, for salvation. There are many mothers in the group, including their guide, Sunday, who herself is expecting.

Who the group is doesn't seem to be all that important, until it is finally revealed. There is no intentional misdirection here, but a very clever and skillful writer prodding us, the people, to exactly where she wants us to go. And when we get there, we can't help but applaud her wizardry.

Ms. Ramodarai knows the way. Keep up with her.

Review by: Michael Puttonen on May 16, 2013 :
Filled with equal measures of anticipation and anxiety, and having utmost confidence in her leader and protector, the narrator tells of her family's harrowing encounters during an oft-taken journey to a precious water source. All that her family desires is nourishment, safety, freedom, and to be together. A tense, somber tale, told from a unique perspective in a compelling fashion.
