Description

A woman, ordinary like you and me, gets the news that she has contracted mesothelioma from washing her husband's clothes when he worked in a shipyard. Through her diary entries, she recounts her feelings and those around her terminal disease. But through bravery and determination, and new treatments, she tackles the "nasty" head on, until a meeting with her oncologist reveals shocking results.

I thought this book was a lovely snapshot of Mavis and Ray's life together, through thick and thin. Mavis comes through each battle with renewed enthusiasm to never let things get her down for too long. My only comment is that I was normally reading on the train before/after work and my mouth was watering at all the delicious recipes!

This book will bring you to tears, make you laugh and fill you with hope and inspiration. I have never met Mavis but I am one of her 'cyber friends' as she puts it, following her progress for a very long time. If she was a boxer her fighting spirit would make her world champion.
