I am currently the Lead Teacher at a middle school in Arlington, Virginia. I coach track, run an anonymous literary magazine ("A No Name Moose"), shepherd the school journalists, direct the school plays, and drum for the teacher rock band. At home in Arlington, my family is, of course, darling, and we have a vicious holly tree and a backyard garden where unplanted vegetables magically grow.

This book is not the typical adventure story. The main character, Kalle, is chased, poisoned, shot, and smashed all within the first fifty pages of the novel. The best part of the book is how the author makes you feel like you are right there with the protagonist, “Kalle would later note how quick hope can be, how dangerously quick…Hope launched Kalle up across the seats, crawling, hand and knees, cushion to cushion, through the semi-protected aisle, back toward the bus driver. He kept the glass shard hand close to his chest. He had to pause and get low whenever the tank charged at the roof of the bus, and a few times, in the impacts, he almost fell. The whole of the roof was flattened, and not a single pane of window was intact.” This is just a snippet from the first fight scene!
As the book continues, the cult that is Farm5 unfolds and becomes more terrible and awesome. The enemy has many faces and many layers not found in the average thriller. You will read as fast as you can until you reach the final page. You will want there to be a sequel.
