I have been writing and drawing since the tender age of 8 years old. I love the written word and how it can transform lives for the better.
I studied English at Marygrove College in Detroit with Fine Art as my minor. I have had numerous poems and prose published in newspapers and various anthologies, i.e. Adam of Ife, Black Women in Praise of Black Men,(Lotus Press,1992), Inner Visions of the People; A Poetry Anthology (Detroit Black Writers Guild, 1994), the Michigan Chronicle, the Michigan Citizen, and the Detroit Free Press.
My poetry is released under the pen name Cherrie Lynn in homage to my mother, Elizabeth, who died of cancer in 2001. Whenever she called me it was always in a melodious "Cherrie!"
I am currently in the process of writing my first novel and illustrating my 3 children's books.
