*I received a copy of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review*
Evie was born in the slums, her mother’s dead, her younger sister was imprisoned years ago & she has had to care for herself. Then she meets Jaxon, a Millennial from the ruling city who promises to help Evie rescue her sister from prison in exchange for something he needs. This is an offer Evie can't refuse no matter the cost, which in her case is death. The real question is can she trust him? As they get closer to finding Annie the closer they become to getting caught and with the assistance of her best friend Red their mission truly begins!
Jaxon Prayer is a brilliant read, I love the new world that Rachel West has created which will have readers gripped from the beginning. The story is written as the events happen from Evie’s point of view, it’s fast paced & will have you page turning until the early hours of the morning!
The main characters will have you lost to the real world & completely sucked in to their lives.
Evie is brave, independent & intelligent with a big heart, she’ll risk her life to save others & I found her to be really surprising at times.
Her best friend Red is a Warrior, he will give his life to protect Evie who he has looked out like a sister, Red is loyal & brave but prejudice against Jaxon because he is a Millennial.
Jaxon is sexy, rich, arrogant, strong & really good at hiding his emotions which adds to the anticipation as the events unfold throughout the book. I loved to read about Jaxon’s reactions to situations when it comes to his own people as it made me love his character more. He’s now on my book boyfriend list :)
I loved the relationship between Evie and Jaxon which felt very real & believable, it was fantastic to read about their friendship and see it grow as each disclose more about themselves to the other, their relationship is extremely important to the story & adds excitement to the action & suspense of the mission which for me gave this story the wow factor!
I can’t finish without mentioning the OMG ending which will have you screaming “NO” be warned this ends on a cliff hanger which usually I hate but for some strange reason left me smiling as it was the perfect suspense filled moment that will leave readers needing more!
I was thrilled to find out the sequel is out in Oct this year so I don’t have to wait too long for more of Jaxon & Evie’s adventure, I think the world Rachel has created could result in more books to follow – I would love to see Jaxon become a leader of the people & rebel against the ruling government, now that would be one adventure I’d be happy to pay for.
This is one of the best dystopian novels I've read so far and has just been added to my Goodreads favourite shelf, it’s definitely a story I will read again in the future and highly recommend to any fan of this genre as one not to be missed!!!
