About Gustavo Estrada

Gustavo Estrada graduated in chemical engineering at the National University of Bogota (Colombia) and the Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg (Sweden). In parallel to his professional career as director of business projects and consultant in information technology, Gustavo has been a dedicated student of Eastern philosophy and evolutionary science, and has practiced meditation and yoga for more for more than three decades. He is the proponent of a hypothesis on why, neurologically speaking, mindfulness meditation works and has become one of the leading thinkers of what he calls ‘Pragmatic Buddhism’. Gustavo has published two books in Spanish: ‘La riqueza de la información’ (The Wealth of Information) and Hacia el Buda desde el occidente (Toward the Buddha from the West) and has a third one, ‘Seriedades y humoradas’ (Important and Trivial Matters), pending of publication. ‘Inner Harmony through Mindfulness Meditation’ is his first book in English. Since the early nineties, Gustavo has written for El Tiempo, the Colombian largest newspaper, as well as for other Latin American media; he currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
