Stalking Volume 3: The Fifth Intercession
A mystic claims that mankind has risen and fallen many times, and that Spirit has interceded in our ways when they deem it necessary. Now is such a time. The Stalking series deals with their emissaries’ surreptitious life preparation, awakening to their purpose, and the handling of heretofore mythical powers they now have access to, all as detailed through the training of a reluctant apprentice. In Volume 1, I meet a beautiful woman whose interests lay in the design of destiny, miracles, and then me, as Bonnie dangled mystical intrigues from her novel-in-progress to secure my help formatting it for the screen. As an average-looking man whose naiveté had been savaged while working for television news in places like San Salvador and Beirut, I reasoned that a romance between us was no less absurd an idea than the premises she already embraced, and I decided to pursue her affections while assisting her.
Portentously, learning her plot was like sucking gelatin through a straw before she confessed that she needed help presenting the progression of a critical element in her screenplay—chronicling a character’s response to specialized training. She explained only that her story involved a rescue mission of such massive proportion and intricate design that rescuers had to undergo rigorous training, and that without this knowledge the mission, and so her story, would sound like pure fantasy. It was for this reason that the precise target was kept from students until they were ready to hear it. Bonnie then asked me to go through these lessons so that she could accurately portray a trainee’s development.
We worked closely, often combatively, as she kept me at bay like a bemused fox playing with a myopic rabbit, while the friction between us grew exponentially as my beliefs became examples of why the mission was necessary. Finally, she made a claim too ridiculous to contemplate even within the context of our unfettered debates: She said that mankind’s failure to recognize what we are really like has led us into an evolutionary cul-de-sac, and that an ancient teaching Spirit was telling her how this had happened through the proliferation of damaging beliefs. We were on the cusp of a universal intervention in our ways and that our return to sanity would begin by awakening masterful emissaries to their purpose.
Realizing I had been chasing a brilliant lunatic, I decided to cut my losses. However, while gathering the courage to abandon her otherwise delightful companionship and our challenging discussions I had what would have been inexplicable experiences had she not surreptitiously prepared me for them, thereby leaving me with no choice but to believe her. Then she dropped another bomb.
Bonnie explained that Spirit intercedes in our ways by sending individuals into physical life in the traditional way, but whose experiences are designed to become the basis of future endeavors. Of necessity, and as it is with all of humanity, to have pure experiences they could not be aware of their missions, so there comes a time when they need to be awakened to their purpose. This involves a teacher demolishing the beliefs the emissaries needed to embrace, and from which they will learn how to approach their specific tasks. My task, she alleged, was to dissect the essence of my profound experiences, accept that I had seen “the end,” and that I had become it: the essence of my behaviors, taken to their final manifestations, was apocalyptic. In this way only would I recognize mankind’s true condition from which I could fulfill my alleged mandate—validating the existence and goals of emissaries who were already here.
The second volume details how an otherwise intelligent species managed to perch itself on the brink of annihilation, based on our inability to accurately assess our true circumstances: Bonnie claimed that “reason,” as our most valuable asset, had been grossly compromised. Ultimately, I experience the concepts Bonnie placed before me, and I am again left with no choice but to embrace her contention that a general insanity pervades mankind.
In this concluding volume, “Stalking: The Fifth Intercession, Bonnie details the historical background of everything related to mankind’s pattern of development and digression. Ironically, but by design, my own training mirrors this history... including arriving at an evolutionary cul-de-sac.
