About John Shepard

John's earliest memories are of curling up on the chase in his father's study with books. Though he didn't seriously take up writing until his late twenties, he's poured his heart and soul into learning and has a love of strong-willed women leads, tempestuous characters, and anti-heroes.

He lives in Washington, loves to swim in the Sound, and can be found writing more often than not. Because reading was such an important part of his childhood, he's decided to donate 50% of all profit on his books to Kourageous Kids Storybooks; an organization dedicated to writing books for terminally ill children featuring them as the hero

Review by: GG Atcheson on July 24, 2013 :
There is no other words for it: I simply ADORED this novella. My only regret is that I read it in one setting. I would have wanted to read more! It was not long enough!

For those who love sci-fi, or for those who love romance, this novella has it all. I fell in love with the protagonists. What was there not to love? Everything is so well depicted that you almost feel as if you are there with them on that ship, in that room… You can't help it, you find yourself struggling with Lara to understand what the music--his form of communication-- means.

Mr. Shepard did a marvelous job at presenting them. They were not just characters in a book, they became my friends too, or at least I wished they were and yes, it may sound ridiculous but that is how I felt as I finished the last paragraph.

I usually don't bother to read short novella, but this one's synopsis called to me. Anything with good aliens is sure to catch my attention! And to top it all, unlike so many Novella, this one had an ending and it does not leave you hanging for the sequel, although I sure would love to read more about them!

I received a free copy of Crix as an on-line promotion on Smashwords. No review expected but I had to share my thoughts. Definitely a must read!
