About Joseph J. Madden

I have been writing since the age of twelve. Born and raised in Queens, NY, I now live in Wisconsin with my wife, 3 daughters, two dogs and a guinea pig.

I basically write what I would want to read. I grow tired of scanning the science fiction/ fantasy bookshelves of the local booksellers and finding only vampire tales, or books based on the latest video game.

I am a child of the 80's, therefore my influences may be viewed as "cheesy" by today's younger audience. Star Wars, Star Trek, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, and the original Battlestar Galactica have all, in one way or another, influenced my own vision of the future. I'm guessing that those out there with a nostalgic attitude probably share my POV.

With that being said, if you're looking to read Azimov, Bradbury, or Clarke, then I suggest you go to your local library or bookstore and pick up Azimov, Bradbury, or Clarke. I respect those authors greatly, but my writing is nowhere as deep. Think Saturday morning pulp science fiction. If you want a fun, diverting summer read, then come looking for me.

If you like science fiction, then you need to get this book. It's absolutely wonderful! I loved it, and am now a big fan of the writer. It has the flavor of classic science fiction novels, with characters that you'll grow to love. A bounty hunter is forced to recapture the crooks who killed his lady. The nightmares had just stopped, and then the hunt started again.

Here is yet another story with an incompetent protagonist. How is anyone supposed to believe that he such a great bounty hunter when he walks right into 2 very obvious ambushes back to back, learning nothing from the experience.

A really good story until this happened. I'm done.

A fun read with a well-thought out world/creatures. The best parts for me were the fight scenes which were well "directed," and easy to follow.

Author Joseph Madden does a fine job in his first novel, The Starhawk Chronicles.

Right from the beginning of the book you are brought into a well thought out world filled with villains and thriving planets and the unappreciated Bounty Hunters profession.

Minor Spoilers

Captain Kid aka Jesse Forster is a likable captain of the Hunter ship Starhawk. His team of hunters are charged with bringing down the despicable Nexus Gang which have escaped prison only 6 months after Jesse's team captured them the first time, but with heavy losses.

The hunt brings you across the galaxy too many well thought out planets with a life of their own.

You learn throughout the course of the book a little of the backstory of the team and it didn't take away from the main story line.

The ending was enjoyable and I would suggest this book to any sci-fi fan. I am definitely looking forward to the next chapter of Captain Kids crew.
