Dennis Harchester was born in one of the more politically-turbid cities in North America on the day after Che Guevarra was assassinated, and ever since has been doing his best to help nurture activism of a progressive stripe, occasionally to the extent of physically interposing himself between over-excited protesters and fully-deployed riot police, over time winning the undying suspicion of reactionary elements within both local law enforcement and the activism community, many of whom have seen fit to subject him, at one time or another, to closely-organized bullying campaigns deriving from psychological warfare and counterintelligence programs developed under J. Edgar Hoover and Joseph Stalin, all of which goes some distance toward explaining his thus far meager literary output.
Another (and perhaps determinative) factor in explaining his survival in fair-to-middling physical and mental health (thus far) may be the fact that the mind control experiment into which he was born was shut down as a complete and total epic failure early on (approx. 1984), its parts repurposed and, where necessary, demilitarized.
Though he staunchly denies any wrongful association with the Triads and has repeatedly declined to comment on allegations of clandestine military and government service, rumors persist of his complicity in undermining the National Security Agency's "Total Information Awareness" program, as well as of his interference, in the field, with the suppression of "UFO" and other "paranormal" phenomena, and also of his unacknowledged role in arranging extralegal support for Edward Snowden's flight to Hong Kong. His assertions to the contrary have not been helped by his admission, in an unguarded moment, to having experienced combat-induced disassociation, nor by his collection of militaria.
As might be expected, he leads a precarious, near-friendless, shadowy, uncertain, secretive, hole-and-corner existence, and devoutly hopes that his written works might, eventually, over time, inspire the public to become more reasonable, tolerant, and peace-loving, the better to work towards the discovery in each of us of our essential innocence, that we might become something more than relatively innocuous. Beyond that, he has hopes they may help stamp out evil, injustice, prejudice, mean-spiritedness, cruelty, and unrecyclable plastics in our times.
He has been quoted as saying, "Yeah, I was born with a tail - they were dogging my parents' footsteps well before they had me."
