If you like Scottish history then you'll love this book. That is my only real criticism. The detailed history sections sometimes slow down the flow of the narrative when one is eager to get on with plot to find out where David Elliot is taking us next; it is a little frustrating plowing through the historical dialogues. Overall a very good read, reminding me of the novels of Dennis Wheatley but set in the 21st Century.

That novel is addictive and utterly captivating! Once you start listening to it, you just can’t stop! The story is read by the author (his voice sends shivers down one's spine) himself, and told by a middle-aged, more or less frustrated Oxfordshire businessman who embarks on an epic journey up to the Scottish Borders, where he hopes to find out more about his ancestors, the mighty Elliot Clan. Not long after arrival, he and his family – his daughter, son-in-law and beloved grandson who joined him on his trip – get sucked into a heart stopping plot that started some 700 years ago... this novel is a fascinating amalgamation of historical facts and figures, the author’s biography and supernatural fiction! Highly recommended to everyone who is interested in Scotland’s eventful history, supernatural fiction and of course to the descendants of the proud Border Reiver Clan – the Elliots. If you are looking for a suspenseful, atmospheric treat - this is the download for you.
