About Jim Harmer

Jim Harmer is an award-winning photographer and author of three photography instructional books. Each of the books are written in a series entitled "Improve Your Photography."

Mr. Harmer, originally from Boise, Idaho, currently lives in Naples, Florida and enjoys photographing the beautiful oceanscapes and wildlife that Florida has to offer.

The author practices a wide range of photographic techniques and subjects, but specializes in HDR and nature photography.

In 2010, Mr. Harmer changed from Canon to Nikon. This allows him to teach photography to students who use either brand. Also, Mr. Harmer favors the consistently superior low-light performance of Nikon cameras.

In his personal life, Mr. Harmer is a full-time law student, husband, father of two children, and a Mormon.

Mr. Harmer's first book, "Improve Your Photography: How budding photographers can get pro results" sold rapidly throughout the world for its ability to explain the basic concepts of photography in a way that is simple to understand.

Subsequent to the first book, the author wrote "Improve Your HDR Photography" and then "Improve Your Wildlife Photography." All of Mr. Harmer's books are written in a casual writing style so as to aid readers in understanding difficult concepts without struggling to understand the author's language.
