Devin Madson was born in September 1986 in Melbourne, Australia.
As a child she often wrote short stories for her family, and by seven years old the decision was made to be a writer and illustrator. Unable to draw more than stick figures this was soon modified to just ‘writer’. This ambition led to the childhood masterpiece -The Sad Little Christmas Tree - which proves that even seven year olds can be cruel to their characters.
Her first introduction to fantasy came in high school with David Edding’s Belgariad, reigniting the passion for writing. For the next seven years she laboured over numerous novels to the exclusion of everything else. An attempt at completing a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Geology, fell through when, having written while walking to the train, spent the train ride writing, and not taken a single note in lectures due to writing, she realised that further education was a waste of time.
Now Madson is looking forward to a writing career as epic as any of her stories, and says that world domination is not out of the question. She has two young children who have so far failed to curb her prolific output.
