Ken Smart was the new rookie on the beat on Isla Verdante. Big City wasn’t equal to it’s name, but it was an average medium-sized town type of place for the Caribbean Islands.

A Rite to Kill
Wendy Adams was the island’s top gardener. She had tremendous success with all types of plants. She even grew a lot of things that wisdom said would not grow there.
When asked how she managed to keep such healthy plants in that kind of insect-infested place she answered that she had almost a set of rites she always followed. It got rid of all the pests very effectively.
Then a few pests died in her garden who were not insects, snails, mites or mice.
Jim Warren was looking for a place with a spectacular view to build a home for him and his teenage children.
He found the perfect place near Pavon! He took some pictures and was leaving when he thought he heard a shot.
Then he downloaded his camera and looked at those pictures. There was something in two of them when he blew them up he hadn’t noticed at the time.

Alligators Ain’t All
Al Rhamer is having coffee on his dock, watching as Old Rocky, their resident alligator, swims by. He sees something on the far bank of the canal. It is a body.
The death is blamed on Old Rocky. No way! It was a deliberate murder!
The Dead Zone
Dr. Sommers is researching rituals of certain cults in Central America. He has made a lifetime study of the practices and keeps meticulous notes.
He is found at his desk. He was writing about an orchid used in certain rituals. It is said that the flower can be made, through certain incantations, to expand and cover the head of a person, thus smothering him.
Det. Lt. Osvaldo Quinteros Perez is called to investigate. He is a specialist in such cults. The place where this happened was in the part of the Indigeno territory he referred to as the dead zone. It is known for deaths connected to those cults.
His friend and fellow cop is Renaldo Estes. They are quite the team.
Death From A Height
Armando Amarosa was quite the ladies’ man. He was tall, good-looking, rich, had all the perfect lines, a very high-paying job, a large luxurious house, a yacht, a Maserati – what more could a man want?
So why did he jump from the tower?
