About Mike Ogden

It sometimes appears that a tormented childhood and a chaotic life are essential requirements for the writing of good fiction, or indeed for almost any sort of creative activity. Well, it might have helped some folk, but as a lifestyle choice it’s probably best avoided. Mike Ogden has avoided it, living over sixty years of reasonably stable and well-ordered life. Despite this huge handicap he writes vividly and tells a great story.

Mike Ogden is a British author, resident for most of his life in the north of England. Now retired, his professional background was in town planning, though aircraft and flying have held a fascination for him for as long as he can remember. There was always a fighter pilot, or at least an airline pilot, inside him that, due to poor eyesight, could never quite find his way out. There was also an architect in there somewhere, probably feeling rather neglected and abused for much of the time.

By long custom Mike Ogden was, and still is, a boater. He and his wife have lived for the last decade on a canal boat, enjoying the historic and scenic environment of the inland waterway system that is such a distinctive feature of the English countryside and towns. They have two adult daughters, one grandson and one dog.
