The Sinner's Guide to Natural Family Planning

Rated 5.00/5 based on 1 reviews
Dozens of books teach the why and the how of natural family planning. This book teaches what's next: how to discern God's will, how to have a sex life that is holy but still human, how to be open to life without losing your mind. In these funny, frank, and profound essays, Simcha Fisher offers comfort, encouragement, honesty, wit, and practical advice to couples learning to live with NFP. More

This is an amazing book. Anyone who has read Simcha Fisher's blogs at Patheos and National Catholic Register knows she is funny and insightful, so reading anything longer than 1000 words is a treat. But this not just hilarious...it is also a practical and deeply spiritual look at what happens when a couple takes practicing Natural Family Planning seriously. She is candid (maybe a little too candid for some, but we're all adults here, right?), witty, very non-judgmental, and has some fantastic insights into what makes NFP challenging...and what is the difference between the "good character-building challenges" and the "um, you're not approaching this correctly and making it 1000% worse challenges." Seriously, I think every married couple (especially Catholic, but maybe everyone! This is about the nature of sex, people, it's a universal!) should read this book. Pastors too. It's that good, and there is nothing else out there like it.
