17 Short Play On Romans 8
I find myself in Romans 8 whenever I doubt who God is, how much He loves His children, how He’s ordered things, and how the world and everything and everyone in it is under his control.. If for no other verse than Romans 8:28 - “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” These short play affirm all this and more. I would never say that one chapter in scripture is any more important than any other. And since every word in the Bible is God’s word, it’s even impossible to say one word is more important than any other. However, I’ve always found Romans 8 to impact tremendously on my view of who God is, how He’s ordered things, how much He loves His children, and how the world and everything and everyone in it is under his control.. As such, it’s always been a place of truth and comfort I can go when things – all sorts of things – begin to overwhelm me.
What greater verse is there to rest upon that Romans 8:28, when life takes a turn for the worse? “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
Or when we feel defeated and alone, is there any greater solace than verse 37: “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
When overcome by shame, when our sins and human frailty has left us vulnerable, and guilty, we land on verse 1 and 2 with both feet and bury ourselves in it: “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of Life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.”
And when we feel alone in this universe, unloved, and destined for cold abandonment, there’s verses 38 and 39: “ For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
And there are so many other reasons life has given me to go to Romans 8. Based on my experiences which have fed my imagination, I present these 10 short plays as evidence of how important this small portion of scripture has been, and will continue to be, to me. God bless their use. These short plays affirm all this and so much more.
