I loved this book!
The story started in Athame has gained so much depth and complexity.
Things break down fast from the apparent resolution at the end of Athame. Both Pete and Jess have a long road not only back to each other but to recognize their roles in finding a real solution to the issues stirred up in the first book.
I laughed out loud several times--not because the book is meant to be humorous, but because the characters feel so real and true and they have to so completely upend their lives.
All I can say is hurry up and write that third book.

I read Athame last spring and really liked it, but when I finished I was bummed that Book 2 wasn't already available. It was a long wait (I'm impatient to a fault), but here it is, and I loved it! Really liked where he took the story and the characters, and the setup for Part 3 has got me sucked in again. I know that the magic parts are fantasy (at least in our part of the universe) but the author makes it seem commonplace and believable. My favorite supporting character is Cook, and I vote for John Goodman to play him in the movie version! Jennifer Lawrence would make the perfect Jessica, if she wasn't so overexposed in Hunger Games already. Mr. Alreth, I trust you're busy penning Part 3...
