Description

I enjoyed the read. I liked getting to know the character before I was immersed fully in the romance. I was happy when she found someone special to help her get past her less than wonderful life. It had a touch of suspense and ends with a surprise. Good paranormal romance, I would recommend it to those that love the genre.

This was a very easy read, a very simple storyline, and it didn't have much depth. But, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Since I haven't read a book of this genre in many many years, this is my first intro back to anything paranomal/romance. The characters were believable, and nothing happened throughout the story that would make me say "yea right". I'm guessing that Jan Gordon is a new author, and if so, I would eagerly read any new books she writes in the future.

I really enjoyed this book, wish it was longer. The back story really helps you "know" the character and have a "relationship" with her. It made the book seem like real life. I do skip through the love making stuff a lot of the time b/c i am not so into descriptions of it, it would be a great story without that, so that would be my only negative. I love Nicky Charles stories and they are a lot like "black silk" but I do wish there was less "adult" stuff. But either way I read them and loved them, downloading "life in the shadows now". Looking forward to it. Thanks so much!

Nineteen pages in and I couldn't take it anymore. The info-dump beginning with far too much backstory bored me to death. Why do I care if the main character/narrator's parents died and left her the house, the cat, the car, the old bookstore? Why do I need to know the MC has too many errands and such to do that she puts off getting gas for her car on day two of the story? I don't and that's what put me off.

I absolutely loved this story! I could not put it down. It has a twist that other paranormal books seem to skip. I like how it Cole admits that he has read Vic's favorite genre of books and says that there is some truth to them. It would be an interesting world if that were true. I hope to read a lot more like this book.

I like this story content I think this story can be great if Mr.Jan could write this story more creative or more innovative. For example in the first of this story bookseller have directly introduced himself to reader that it can be boring to reader. I think it can be better if he was introduced with events.

I have had a lot of financial problems lately with having cancer and LOTS of bills (no insurance) and the freebies have been great. Some are good, some not so good, some are just flat excellent.

Black silk is a lovely little romance (299 pages) with a paranormal bent and very good character development. Both main characters are highly likable, which is something I really appreciate.

Ms Gordon's editing skills are good, which is important to me, and her writing style is also good. A few more books, and her slight stiffness of writing style should smooth out. She has a great deal of potential as a writer, and I will spend time watching for her next book. At least, I hope she is going to write another. her world-building is good, with the change being more magic than "ripping muscles and breaking bones" like a lot of other of the were stories. While I like those too, this way of changing is much more beautiful, and not as frightening to someone (the female lead) who is a gentle soul.

Overall, 4.75, the 5 for true will come when the slight stiffness in writing tone smooths out.

Good job, Ms. Gordon!

Nice little romance with a very sexy hero who happens to turn into a black panther. How cool is that! You could have you're own Kitty and eat him too (when he's human). Cole is the were panther in the story and he has manners, is honorable, protective, funny, he can cook, is great in bed and is absolutely gorgeous with greeneyes and black hair. He is also ripped with a narural six pack that just goes pop! When Cole and Vic meet it almost seems like love at first sight and this is that story. I really enjoyed it. Those who love paranormal romance will love it too.

I absolutely loved this book. Paranormal romances are my favorite genre' and this one didn't disappoint. The suspense leading up to the finalization of the capture of the evil character keeps one on the edge of your seat waiting for it to happen. I can't wait for more by Jan to be released.

A short 69 page story but as good as a longer book.

Victoria is alone in the world with her bookstore, home and black cat named Mister. Her folks died and she kept the house and store to remember the good times with her parents.

One night as the gas station was being robbed she met a dark and handsome stranger named Steven Coburt, or Cole.

The robber ran out of the store at some point and Vic seen his face but he also seen hers.

Cole came to the store the day after and for some reason this handsome man seemed to choose to be with her.

As secrets became known Vic struggles with them.

Between threats from Kincaid, the burglar, and mixed feelings about this unusual man she met a great story comes together.

Not the best one I've read, but an enjoyable short paranormal/shifter romance just the same. It was a quick and easy read, the characters were likable enough but, as with a lot of these "quickies" that I've been reading lately, there wasn't quite enough depth or character development. At least this one had an ending I wasn't completely disappointed with.

I really liked this story. The male lead is very romantic and sexy. The female lead is one we can identify with - an ordinary girl living an ordinary not so exciting life, until a certain man appears, that is! Yes, the love story is mostly predictble, sort of 'knight on a silver horse' but that's why we read romance, isn't it? The escapism, the wish that it would happen that way. There is also a 'twist' as the author puts it, which makes the story a bit unique from some others in the genre. Overall a good read!

Worth downloading and reading, but not great. The plot is simplistic with painful contrivances (there just happened to be a dangerous snake on the log at that exact moment?), and the 'romance dialog' can get cheesy, but the narrator is interesting nonetheless. It's also an interesting study on women's fantasies--super hunky unique guy focuses his whole world on an average woman despite her baggage/hangups.
