This snapshots in this book are of the surprising, unexpected people of Los Angeles. From the homeless man in San Pedro to the movie star on a set in Koreatown, Random Angels reflects a patchwork city of remarkable diversity. More
Notwithstanding the famous pop song, I have walked in L.A. A lot. For 20 years. This is the initial of 3 books of snapshots taken on those walks. The photos in Random Angels are meant upend the clichés about Angelenos, though some will reinforce them. And I make no claim to making art with the photos, though some I'm rather proud of. These photos are - in the truest sense - snapshots. My goal is not to prove any thing as an "artist"... it is, and has been, to catch and expose side glimpses of the city. Nooks. Crannies. The Los Angeles one doesn't expect, which I've come to believe is nearly all of it.
