A PREDICAMENT OF THE HEART
Two years ago, Jake Winters wasn’t a millionaire -- he was a programmer finishing a software, was poor, and had numerous odd jobs to survive. He was also following up on an odd job as a male escort hired by a friend of his client to make sure she would spend a romantic week in the picturesque island of Mykonos, Greece.
Her friend chose well because he was the perfect escort -- young, handsome and smart. He was supposed to be a surprise. But when he met “Anna”, she turned out to be beautiful, smart and charming -- and wary of men because of a childhood trauma. What she exactly needed was a stranger so she could let herself go. Instead of just accompanying a young woman, he fell right into it and gave them both the best romantic interlude of their lives.
Now he is rich, and he has a steady girlfriend, and everything is going the way he'd planned -- except he still remembers Anna and her angelic green eyes. But there is no way for him to find her -- he doesn’t even know her real name.
But when his girlfriend Thera accompanies him to Athens on a business trip so they could make a side trip to her former home Zakinthos, he is shocked to find that the woman he had spent time in Mykonos is no other than Thera’s childhood friend, Clara.
Now he’s in a quandary. Thera is a special person with a beautiful heart. But no one has ever made his heart and his body throb the way they did whenever she’s close but beautiful Clara.
Is he in love with her? If he follows this up, he is afraid he’ll be a monster in Thera’s eyes.
THE DOORS were wide open and right in front of it, by the car, was Carla. She was wearing leather black pants, a motorcycle jacket and boots, and black leather gloves. She was sitting confidently atop a huge bike and was revving it as she watched him approach. In her other hand, she held a black biker’s helmet.
She was too sexy for words.
She did not look happy to see him, though. In fact, she looked as if she wished she had left before he’d found her.
But he stood there even if he felt highly unwelcomed. He couldn’t help but be floored.
“Ducati...” he said.
“Streetfighter 848,” she couldn’t help but answer. So he liked bikes, too. She recognized the look on his face. Bike Lovers knew each other just by that look.
“849 cc,” continued.
She nodded. “132 wild, feisty little horses,” she concluded.
“Sky blue,” he observed. Indeed, the bike was painted like a clear, cloudless sky.
“Special delivery,” she explained, obviously feeling awkward at his intense look in when he transferred it from the bike to her face.
“Would you believe me if I told you that back home I have one exactly the same?”
Carla rolled her eyes, the same time her heart thudded inside her chest. “You’re kidding me!”
He stepped closer to her. “I’m not. Except mine is forest green.” An intense forest green, like the color of your beautiful eyes.
“Forest green…” she whispered, and stared at his eyes.
And he knew that she finally got it, why they both had their Ducati’s custom-painted the way they did.
