Addressing Natural Resources, Agriculture, Human Development, Health and Energy for Sustainable Development in Assam and North-East India, the book endeavors to study the inter-relationship among variables and find out the determinants of sustainability. The book aims to study the development that is taking place in remote regions of the country, whether it takes really to growth or something else. The growth and development strategy must be people oriented, it must promote the living standard, reduce the gap between the rich and the poor and most importantly it should keep the environment intact otherwise the development is not going to sustain. The poor human life is more dependent on the environmental resources. Thus the development policy must keep strict eye on agriculture which is the mainstay of 75% people, human development and environment. Developing countries need not follow the conventional path to development with regard to technologies but must use to their advantage the cutting edge technology options now available to ‘leapfrog’, and put the tools of modern technology to use. Mechanisms must be put in place to make available to developing countries the latest technologies at reasonable cost.
