About Vicky Adin

I am a wife, mother of two, grandmother of four and an author (BA English, MA (Hons) Education).

In my life, I have been a stay-at-home mum, school library assistant, secretary, executive assistant, retailer, seamstress, embroiderer and tutor, local body politician, amateur thespian both on stage and behind the scenes, a professional conference organiser and now I can proudly say I’m an author. I wonder where the next twenty years in my life will lead me?

I live on the North Shore of Auckland with my husband of over 40 years, within walking distance of the beach – my favourite place to walk, to think and to be at peace.

I love stage musicals, gardening, reading – mostly historical novels – and genealogy. I do a lot of family history research for myself and friends and use true stories I have uncovered as a basis for The PastFinders series. I love horses and equestrian, used to ride, fell off once too often and no longer ride. I leave that to my granddaughter now.

I write every day. I love writing. I do a lot of research.

I started writing seriously in 2007 after years of interest in New Zealand history and genealogy. I am a bit of an idealist at heart and weave family and history together, throwing in a bit of travel, some food and love, of course, love, and my stories come to life.

My latest novel, 'The Art of Secrets' is from The PastFinders series. Emma Wade, an embittered young journalist is sent to write the life story of ageing and reclusive author Charlotte Day. Wrestling with her own secrets, Emma worms her way into Charlotte's past. But some memories are too precious or too painful to share - especially the causes of her descent into isolation. As they struggle forward, the two women are surprised to find much to like about each other. Their unusual relationship deepens; will they learn to trust again... Or will reliving the past be too much for either of them to handle?

The PastFinders novels are based on characters who search out their family roots and the secrets they discover along the way. The first of these is 'The Cornish Knot' about Megan, a widow, who traces her great-grandmother through a long-lost journal. Follow Megan's journey of discovery and renewal as she travels from New Zealand to Cornwall, to Italy and home again. Share her pain and her joys as she unravels her past, uncovering secrets and finding new hope. Be there with her at the end.
