Short description

Pirates. Now she had to contend with pirates. Victoria wondered at the magnitude of her bad luck as she tried to gulp down her fear. Contempt narrowed her eyes as they swept over the British captain's inert form lying on the floor. Her hopes rose with her gaze when the blows to the door ceased. "Find Buck," ordered a voice of authority. "Seems I have need of his special talents. I'll handle this."

Wishing to escape the dull responsibilities of his rice plantation home, Grant Hawthorne sails the seas procuring boycotted goods for the American colonies. While plundering an British merchant ship, he discovers the captain’s ill-treated cabin boy, Vic, and offers the youth the opportunity to join his crew. Grant quickly learns, however, that Vic is actually Victoria, a young woman who, for unknown reasons, is fleeing England. They try keeping her gender a secret from the crew, until a sailor exposes her deception, causing tensions to explode to mutinous proportions.

After several weeks at sea, the ship sets anchor outside the Charles Town harbor and Grant, though intrigued by Victoria’s spirit and beauty, lets her go. While in port, he is confronted wi.. (Read more)

A wonderful weaving of common tropes into something realistic and entertaining. Yes the heroine is taken by pirates but they are really privateers and she is rescued from a bad situation. She becomes the captain's "cabin boy" but as protection. Everytime, I saw a cliche, Lynne Marie turned it into gold.

After a few late nights reading this outstanding book (again and again), I can truly say it is one of the best reads out there. The story line stays true and the characters are brilliantly rendered making it a joy to read and not want to put down. Victoria makes me proud to be a woman and Grant makes me proud to be a Southerner. Due to Lynne Marie's excellent writing you get a feel that even with all of their differences they belong together and that love will win out in the end.
All in all Lynne, it is really, really great! You've done a fabulous job and I personally cannot wait for the next one!

I was totally blown away by this book! Hooked from the very first line, the book never let my interest lag. The characters draw you in to their world of pirates, lust, chivalry, Colonial tug-of-war, scallywags, friendship, and southern gentry, with surprising twists and turns throughout. Accuracy and depth of knowledge was apparent, which is important when writing about such historic places as Charleston and Georgetown in South Carolina; but don’t let the worry of ‘history’ scare you off. It is woven into the storyline so easily and interestingly that you never realize you’re learning history! This book is one of those rare gems that you read slowly because you never want it to end. I certainly hope there’s a sequel!

OMG! Hello Capt. Grant Hawthorne...He is such a dynamic character that's so richly described, I thought he would materialize from the pages. However, I think it was very clever of Lynne Marie to introduce Victoria first. I was immediately drawn in by her 'what's next' attitude while pirates are bashing on the cabin door, and her quick wit of putting on a disguise. The reader gets a good taste of her fortitude and knows she will hold her own - even against Grant. The true depth of Victoria and Grant is revealed against the vivid backgrounds of the colonial Carolina coastal region. The supporting cast of characters are well-rendered, and I especially loved spunky Mama Lil and Grant's loyal best friend, David. The love scenes were highly sensual, but tasteful - well worth the wait. Definitely an easy read that's hard to put down. I believe ANYONE will enjoy reading The Seahawk's Sanctuary; it's escapism at its best!

Spellbinding tale of a young woman born into an 18th century man's world, Victoria must rely on her own cunning and unrealized femine wiles. A fast paced story set in the immense wealth of southern rice plantatons. High seas adventures of the dashing Capt. Hawthorne amidst pirates, treachery, love and lust makes "Seahawks Sanctuary"
a real page turner. Strongly suggested read for all adventure and romance lovers. Can't wait for the sequel!

This book is WONDERFUL. It's fast-paced, exciting, keeps you thinking, but remains at the same time an easy read. The characters are 3-dimensional, real and believable, as is the storyline and its setting. The descriptions of events are detailed and vivid without interrupting the flow. It's fast-paced, easy to read and hard to put down. I enjoyed this story immensely. A must read.

Lynne Marie's book The Seahawk's Sanctuary is a great read. Her characters are well developed and interesting--even her secondary characters, who add just a little more sparkle and pizazz to an already awesome story. The interaction between her two main characters is spicy and exciting, while her love scenes are also sensual and erotic without being tasteless. Well written and intriguing to the very end, I would highly recommend it!

Kudos to Lynne Marie for The Seahawk's Sanctuary, which grabbed me immediately from the very first page and was really hard to put down. I found myself happily transported to another time and place. The world of pirate ships, South Carolina plantations, and Charles Town in the late 18th century really came alive for me in this book. The stormy, passionate relationship between the two main characters, Grant and Victoria, was captivating right from the start, and continued to be throughout the book. I just loved immersing myself in the fireworks between these two! Plenty of light, humorous moments, often involving the supporting characters in the book, provided a delightful contrast to the central drama. The plot moved along at a brisk clip, and there was a nifty twist at the end that cleverly resolved Grant's problems. Altogether, I'd say that The Seahawk's Sanctuary was a treat to read.
