I am giving "Alex, the Fey" a 4-Star Rating because, while I enjoyed the story tremendously, I do have a major concern with this book, as well as with each following installment in the Alex, the Fey series. Why is the editing so very poor??? Sometimes I did feel like I was slogging through, because I was trying to decipher the correct meaning. I have not seen one of these books in print (having read the e-edition of each book), but certainly hope the grammar, usage, and spelling errors are not repeated in print editions; they so detract from the enjoyment of the story itself and the development of the characters within.

This book was just OK, in my opinion. It is very difficult to read at first with the introduction of all the characters and far too much dialogue. I'm no writer, but when I read I like to picture the setting and the characters as they interact. You don't get much of that at all. I chose to read this book only because it was free, and it really didn't hold my attention. The author does tell a story, and the character of Alexandra Hargreaves (The Fey) seems interesting. There are times when I really enjoyed the direction and a few of the twists. I just couldn't get over the writing style, poor editing, and lack of descriptive setting. It was like listening to a radio program of people talking. You have to read and read just to understand what they are saying, and then what they are saying doesn't seem all that interesting!

Loved this book. At first I had trouble following all the characters, but the further I got the characters fell into place and the more I got into the story. Can't wait to read more in the series. Especially like the Colorado setting as I'm a Colorado native!

Claudia is a master at dialogue. Each character's own inflection and voice mannerisms makes the narrative wing you along in this fast read.
"What's important is family and friends" yeah right on Claudia.
Fun fast and heavens it is FREE.
Whoa

The book is amazing and the characters are wonderful. I want to read at least 3 prequels fleshing out the background memories that are scattered throughout the book. Right now I guess I'll have to settle for the sequels but hopefully Claudia will also write about her characters' earlier lives.

The first thing I would like to say about The Fey is that the formatting and proofing is not perfect...
I say this first because it is the only bad thing about this book.
Here, Claudia Hall Christian has created a perfect view of what it is like to recover from trauma as well as a brilliant view of the dangers in the modern world.
The characters she creates are wonderfully developed, portrayed well and best of all, easy to relate to. The story line is brilliant. Claudia manages to make the reader feel like her characters, which is exactly what is needed in a good book. There are moments when the reader feels all is lost, and brilliantly written comedic moments that made me laugh exactly when I needed it.
In all, this is a stunning piece of work and I recommend it to any reader. Nice work, Claudia!
