Ebook Description

This is the story that inspired the acclaimed Burt Lancaster movie, 'Go Tell the Spartans'. It's 1964, early days in South Vietnam, and the U.S. Army Raiders have garrisoned a town that the French abandoned ten years before. "Sad, bawdy, and compelling," wrote the Detroit Free Press. "The greatest work to date on the Vietnam involvement," said the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Fantastic read.

If you missed this novel when it was published in 1967, do not miss it now.

I first read "Incident at Muc Wa" in the early 1970s and then saw the movie - "Go Tell the Spartans" with Burt Lancaster - in 1978. Then, the subject was still too fresh and raw for me, a then recent Viet Nam era veteran, to fully appreciate. Now, in 2009, reading the novel proved to be a totally different experience. I admire and appreciate the skill, sensitivity, insight and objectivity Ford brought to his work. Incident at Muc Wa takes the reader to ground level in a tough war situation where individuals do their best to follow orders and their hearts.

First, have a good read and THEN see the movie. Belated congratulations to Dan Ford.
