Secrets of Retail

Adult
Rated 3.89/5 based on 9 reviews
Wade Williams is a prick. This wasn't always the case, but years in the soul-shattering world of retail have made Wade a bitter, cynical young man. Impeded by a lack of direction and nearly infinite levels apathy, Wade idles through his days avoiding waves of annoying customers, his obtrusive boss and any kind of work in general.

About J.W. Martin

There's nothing better to me than a good story. Whether it's a book, movie, TV show or even a video game, I find it very easy to become completely engulfed in a good story.

I've spent my life finding ways to share my own stories with any who care to read them. I've experimented with many different forms of writing, but have always come back to novels.

Only recently have I made it my goal to convert myself from a "wannabe writer" to a "wannabe writer with a few published books."

I agree with most of the other reviewers. It rings true and made a good, entertaining read, improves steadily as it goes along.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Dowloaded and read it the same day (well, I did save the end for the next day). Looking forward to more great books from Mr. Martin! Thanks for the great read on a rainy night! :)

Not badly written, but nonstop cynicism quickly gets tiresome, and the first few chapters were nothing else. The mild attempts at humor weren't enough to make up for it. I quit early.

I didn't think I would like this because of the subject but it was a surprisingly good read with great characters.

The secret of retail is that most of its employees are small-minded, uneducated and self absorbed. Wade, the main character in this book, is a perfect example of that. I wasn't that enthralled with the story right up until the end, when the author really pulled it together.

Neither the characters nor the story were particularly original, yet I was drawn in and couldn't put it down.
I thoroughly recommend this book for a light easy read.

This was a page turner, I really wanted to find out what the main character was going to do next. Nice character development and people you can easily relate to!
