This sounds like a coming-of-age story. It has an interesting setting and the mystery is intriguing. I would suggest, however, getting someone to check it for you. There are a couple of misused words, for instance hull (s/b haul), and some punctuation issues, though not too many.
Haley, I hope you finish this story. When you do, please notify me and I'll buy the finished version.
