Alessa Adamo is a person with two distinct lives. As a transsexual woman she lived as a male more than half her life. Drafted into the Vietnam War as a B-52 crew chief; then an Air Force Reserves career as a C-141 fight engineer; a successful business person as a real estate agent and office manager in Northern California; a husband of 20 years with three children.
Transitioning to female through hormone replacement therapy and surgery, Alessa began her current life at the age of 48. The cost was high—the almost simultaneous losses of spouse, children, home, and career. It was a challenging rebirth to a new gender and a new life. The costs were high, but the consequences of not changing gender would have been worse.
Alessa was fortunate to have the support of her parents, siblings, and cousins during her transition. Of course, the loss of her children can never be replaced, but she is gratified that as adults they all live happy, healthy lives. After her transition, Alessa began a new career as a nonprofit executive in San Francisco; remarried a wonderful, supportive spouse; finished college, obtaining a BA in English/Creative Writing from San Francisco State University; and published her first novel.
Now passing 60, Alessa brings a treasure-trove of experience and knowledge to her writing. She believes that despite our best efforts to control our own destinies, there are other forces at work in the universe that help and guide us. We only have to be open to them.
Alessa is now retired and writing full time. She can be contacted through her website: Alessa@alessa-adamo.com.

What a great book. Great story and extremely well written. Very good character development and easy to identify with. I can be somewhat of a skimmer but Alessa's descriptions kept me right there with her the whole time. I was sorry to see the book end and I would definitely read more of this writer's books. Loved it.
