Dialogue – dialectical interchange, is the most accessible way of developing and exchanging ideas. In my plays there are problems and there are people attempting to solve them. They are not one-sided slices of life in which only the problem is displayed (as in tragedy), nor are they intended to simply entertain. The connection with the audience is centered on thought and not emotion. They are “serious comedies” in that even very serious issues can be presented in ways that can be humorous and even entertaining to those with an interest in thinking about the problems of life. They are for people who hate not knowing things. Surely a minority, but still worthy of some attention.
