Kyle si ritrova a fare le segretaria a tempo determinato in una fattoria trasformata in centro equestre, Bright Hope, dove riscopre il suo vecchio amore per i cavalli. All’improvviso vengono ritrovate delle ossa umane e inizia un incubo che durerà delle settimane. La polizia stazionerà davanti l’edificio notte e giorno, senza venire a capo di questo pesunto omicidio. Kyle, nel frattempo, decide di rilassarsi andando a cavalcare e, stranamente, cade e perde conoscenza senza un motivo apparente. A tratti riapre gli occhi, senza riacquistare la forza per rialzarsi, e le sembra di scorgere qualcuno che fugge…Nel frattempo viene ritrovato nelle stalle il corpo senza vita di Ed, il padrone della fattoria. Una storia incalzante, dove i cavalli sono attori cooprotagonisti e in cui il lettore resta sempre in attesa della svolta.,…Narrato tutto in prima persona (adoro questo modo di scrivere) Ben scritto e accessibile anche a chi ha una conoscenza elementare dell’inglese.
