Val Dufeu, doctor of medieval and environmental history (University of Stirling, Scotland), is a consultant in geo-archaeology, study of soils, and historical research. Val’s multidisciplinary doctoral research incorporating medieval and environmental history, social sciences and environmental sciences, was supported by the AHRC (Arts & Humanities Research Council). Her expertise focuses on the Scandinavian colonisation of the North Atlantic World, palaeo-economic-environmental reconstructions, and the economic and social organization of the communities associated with fishing. In parallel, she works as a professional archaeologist, develops an experimental archaeology project in collaboration with a foreign university, and is researching on fishing communities from the Outer Hebrides.
