Description

Brenna was named for a shape-shifting bird goddess, so when her beloved expresses a longing to fly, turning her herbwoman skills to creating a pair of magic wings doesn't seem like such a stretch. But she never thought that setting Lir free would break her heart.

Short story with the air of a myth or folk tale. Very different style from most shapeshifter fantasies.

Unrestrained ambition can have unintended consequences, and Lir got them in abundance. This is a moving dark fantasy. Sparse prose tells a wonderful tale of the results of ingratitude and self-centered desire. Well written with well defined characters.
